Hey
I made some modular space stations with Wings3D and the help of "micheus" (textures with GIMP):

I will use them for my game
X-the forgotten battles. The originals are from Egosoft's game "X2 the threat"(
Original from the second image). Original dark gray metal texture from
here.
Any suggestions?
Great modelling and texturing but the renders looks kinda flat! My opinion, I might be wrong!
I don't use normal-/bumpmapping, that might me the reason for the "flat" look.

No, is not the normal or the bump. The material look to be the same for the whole structure while, if we take the texture into consideration, shouldn't be. But, mostly, imho, is the lighting, or the lack of it, which creates this flat look. Maybe, in-game it looks different.
Great
Westbeam.
Wouldn't you add one wire frame shot?
I think that what
Mishou is talking about is because we "see different materials shining in the same way". We would expect to see the gray material shine more - like metal - than the other was painted.

Here is a wireframe shot. The stations are low-poly models:
How do I make it shine more? I am actually not very skilled in Wings3D. :/
Thanks for the wireframe image.

Unfortunately you cannot get much more from the Wings3d preview.

Sorry for didn't notice you was showing a wings3d' preview image. My comments only make sense if you had used a external render to produce them.
Actually, these are assets for a game and we don't know the limitations for the game engine. Import them in the game and see how they look there. Would be great to see some in-game shots

Looks nice in the game engine.
Which engine are you use?
Can use normal maps?
