Please check if it's related to the bug in Console window. (already fixed by Dan)
try this:
- backup your preferences.txt;
- open it in the Notepad;
- look for this statement:
{saved_windows,[{console,{315,158},{806,173},[{rollup,no}]},
{geom,{0,51},
{1062,595},
[{rollup,true},
{show_info_text,true},
{show_groundplane,true},
and remove the bold content;
- save your file and start wings3d.

Yep, removing the console window from that list fixed it! Does the new version no longer have a console window?
Hmm, it actually remembered my window positions from the old version... I had to manually reset them in previous Wings versions!
By the way, I'm surprised how much the new GUI looks like the old one, even though you're using a completely different toolkit... I was afraid everything would be completely unfamiliar!

That was already fixed. Until dgud release the new installer, I suggest you to download the unofficial path I linked the other theread.
Already reported: [fixed] Wings 2.0 32bit on Windows 7 64bit crashing
