To me, the problem occurs no matter the kind of selection (edge ring, edge loop, marquee select etc) (edge mode, face mode, vert mode) i am using.
Could you please test the following steps in 2.1.2, please?
a. create a sphere and smooth it twice
b. change to Vertex mode and draw a marquee over part of the sphere, so that you select some amount of vertices
c. Tools|Magnet Mask|Lock (those vertices began green)
d. Deselect all (spacebar).
e. Tools|Magnet Mask|Select.
After this, Wings selected all the "green" vertices?
That is how it works in 1.5.3 and the correct way.
But it doesnt work here in my 2.1.2 installation.
I'll get the installer at home during lunch and bring it to my work to install in my main machine.
Fonte, despite the locked vertex doesn't be displayed, the Tweak magnets operations (like move) are playing with those vertex or they still locked as expected?
So it looks like a "draw" issue.
Did you already checked it at your home PC?
Also, I don't remember now, but is there a way to enlarge the size of the lock "dot".

In fact, all Tools|Magnet Mask commands had keyboard shortcuts, altough i wasnt using them in the tests.
Following your suggestions, i pressed Ctrl+DEL and began to erase one by one. Basically i was using Ctrl+K and Ctrl+U to Lock and Unlock masks, and combos with F6 key. One of them, i couldnt erase, i dont know why: exactly the one associated with Tools|Magnet Mask|Select. Its shortcut was Shift+F6.
I have to open preferences.txt to be able to erase it.
And now, all is ok!
I'll shortcut those commands again and test. Any new conclusion, i'll post here, ok?!
Yeah found the problem, I don't know if I dare to fix it before a bug release, though.
I have explicit disabled all F1-F15 and all Numeric Keypad and other strange Keys,
but don't remember why I did that probably because it caused problems
somewhere on some OS, or something didn't work a long time ago but that have been fixed now.
Or it was just a mistake. Coders this is why important to write good commit messages when changing the code, now it was so long ago that it was probably not done and I don't remember.

I noticed that change when the SDL was replaced by the new code.
