So ... Wings keeps trying to load it. Nasty. Lucky I found it in Roaming folder.

I really don't like it when Wings3D tried to save my a$$.
To be short: It is easy, if you don't like the aurosave it then go to the preferences dialog and disable it.

We don't need to discuss this again, so you can read a long one you participated in 2011: http://nendowingsmirai.yuku.com/topic/73...KCISYpTvMI
You point me to a six years old conversation ... at a different site. Go there and see if I am going to repeat myself (I think not).

My claim now is that this is a "CATCH 22 situation". How can I disable a preference if the Wings3d never loads because of bad hashtag file ? I suppose you will tell me to use "insider knowledge of a text editor or something.

It's annoying. Very annoying.

There are obviously some simple things to be done that could improve the situation ... such as always providing some feedback as to the full path name of a file being loaded ... even if it is a hashtag file stored in %APPDATA%\..\Roaming\Wings3D
Yeah, a six year old post that says you didn't like this feature, but still have it enabled until today.

Of course there is space for improvements, but since this feature doesn't uses to be a problem for real users other things become priority. (There are only two persons coding today and that doesn't include me)
I don't have time to mess with Wings3D preferences on every machine I use ... and forget all this crap after many months away from wings3d.

If Wings wants to have several kinds of backup files in several places .. in order to cover my butt ... I guess that must be great stuff.

Tell me why I get some backups on my DESKTOP ... and some in ROAMING\Wings3d ? Some with tildas and some with hashtags ?

Weird to me. Just weird.
Before know where a project should be saved (unsaved ones) that place should be the same as preferences.txt is stored.
