I tried both 32 and 64 bits (my pc is 64), and neither of them open. Also tried a former version 2.0.5 to no avail.
I am currently running V 1.5.4 without problems, but I did want to update to the newest version.
Any suggestions?

That's new.
Can you try to install it and in the install dialog make sure to force to install the Microsoft dll's. It Is the first checkbox and usually for W10 it's unchecked.
