Please, open the Console window (via Windows menu option) and then try to use Image Plane again and check if will be displayed any error message or something like that on it.

Let's try one I know should works:

here is a link for download a zip file with two files (wings and jpg) - use the File option for download the zip.
Unzip them and load the wings file and tell us what happened - a screenshot is fine too.

dziugas306,
This is something I have never seen in all my years of using Wings3D...
What version of Windows are you using?
What are the specs on your video card?
Just trying to think of something to explain this...

Really weird.
There is still something we can check - even it shouldn't be changed by itself - Please, select the image1 material in the Outline window; hit the right mouse button (RMB) over it and select "Edit material..." in the popup menu. Now, tell us what is the value selected for the field "Vertex Colors"?

Ok. It's right.
No more things to check in Wings3d.

Sorry, just trying give you options and way to try check the problem origin.

whilst playing with the new shaders and altering the lights.
After seemingly endless fiddling I concluded the key was to disable View > Two Lights and ensure View > Show > Colors was enabled in combination
with Show Materials and Show Textures
Its seems that when they are all enabled with one light (Two Lights off) its OK.
