is there a new version? - JohnXZ - 05-21-2015

hi,

I'm bit confused, 1) is a there a new version? 2) what is manifoldlab?

3) And why Wings3D-ManifoldLab is not in github? I thinks it will benefit all to have a centralized repo for the development.

4) Is there a new version going on or all the effort is in the manifoldlab version?

5) What version should I used? Wings3d or ManifoldLab?

thanks

Hi JohnXZ, let's try to answer your questions...

No

Quote:2) what is manifoldlab?
It's a independent "distribution" of Wings3d plus the ManifoldLab plugin (tha is integrated to the Wings3d). Developed and maintained by ggaliens with its own site (http://www.manifoldlab.com) and forum (http://wings3d.yuku.com).

Only ggaliens can answer this question. Smile

There is. dgud has been working in the UI migration (for dialogs) from ESDL to wxWidget.
dgud had warned us that 1.5.3 would be the last stable for a while [ http://www.wings3d.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=667&pid4490#pid4490 ]. That's because they "... can focus on new things, the gui for example and get rid some old opengl code such as display lists to save memory and so on." (by Dan).

The ML is not related to the official version, so I don't think we can answer about that. It has its own "roadmap" (?!).

Some people have both of them installed. It's up to you.
The ML version have a lot of options not present in the official version that would (or not) interest you.
Here you will find help only to subjects related to the official version of Wings3d.
