Hollow face - batman pasta - 05-09-2016

Hey all!

Is there a way to make a hollow face?

I've tried it here- Not exactly sure how I did it (plane cut and then dissolve and then hole maybe?) but it's not working all the time...

I'm adding an image ; I cut both of the eye sockets out of this object and I'm trying to cut out the back piece so it would be just a face (like a mask).

Yes. In Face mode you can use the Hole command to mark the selected faces as hole, but I'm not sure it is the best choice for this object.

By considering you are looking to the left/right side of the skull, do you intend to remove half of it?

Yes, but after I loop cut and hole it, it create this surface but this time I cannot erase it.

What would you suggest as a better way to do it for this object?

Select a set of edges and loop cut them. Smile

But, if this skull was "solid" that would be better if you had used it before create the inside mesh.
In such situation, after make this big loop cut you could select the big face and other faces to be opened and use Intrude (to create the inside mesh) or set them as Hole.

That green area is a new face created by Wings3d. Remember, Wings3d works with manifold mesh, so you will never get an "open" object. You just get it using the Hole command.

In the current situation, if you want to keep the inner mesh - that means your mask will have a thickness - you must to loop cut the respective faces in the inner mesh. This way you will get two big faces opposed each othef; select both and is Bridge to create the "hole".

If you don't want the inner faces and intent to work with only the external faces and use then Hole command, then there are more work to do.

What should I do if I only want the external faces?

Ok. Looks like I found it: select- loop cut- delete- hole.

yes.
Here is a step by step I was working this morning:

Just in case you don't know. After that you cannot get those inner faces back. You can of course use the RMB option for Hole command, but you will get a big face closing the eyes, "neck" and and the nose.

This is so great and I learned a few extra things on the way. Thank you again! Smile
