Transparent UV mesh - Mancom37 - 06-23-2016

Hello lads,I want to use this texture here althought I am wondering what should I do in the UV mesh so that part in the bottom to go "transparent" so it looks like the hay is falling down.

The problem is the image. It seems to not have the alpha channel information.
Try this one I added the alpha channel with Gimp, removed the black color and saved it.

Thank you very much man,if it is not a problem(just out of pure curiosity)what is an alpha channel information?

RE: Transparent UV mesh - micheus - 06-23-2016

The correct term for png files is "alpha transparency".
A kind of definition: Alpha channel
How to do:
- Photoshop -> Create a Transparent Image with Adobe Photoshop
- Gimp -> Saving Images with Transparency
It's similar for other graphic applications.

I am using apint.net and when I finish editing the textures it deletes the alpha channel, you know any way I could prevent this from happening?

Mancom37,
I have never used apint.net so I cannot say about that. What format are you exporting as? Not all image formats support Alpha. TGA and PNG do support it. I think Tiff does as well. Jpeg does not support Alpha. I usually export as .PNG since Windows Explorer does not display thumbnails of .TGA files.

I think you means paint.net. Smile

As oort said, you just need to export or save as the image using one format that supports transparence.

Check this short video tutorial about that. It's exactly the same process I used in Gimp to make transparent the black area in your image.
