Interesting, and nice work. In the last picture, is the image purely a result of the UV texture map within wings? Or did you do anything in photoshop to the screenshot?

What I did was take the head, and turn it inside out, then gave it a texture with an alpha channel that was all scribbles. Oh, I also moved all of the faces along their normal to make it a little bigger than the original head.
