i little sugestion
why not a new plug
-explode by connectedness
when modele break in x parts with not groups organisation
a simplex model in fact
possibility to reconstruct
ex with your example with There is no more "Voronoi Fracture"
if i try a face inset in general , no result because the model is broken !
a solution to recontruct?

I want this functionality too ... but I recall that the invert function not so easy to construct.
I'll have to take another look soon. Pretty busy with other programming lately though.
