Mesh Bump plugin - Stab In The Dark Software - 11-25-2012 02:16 PM

I used the mesh bump plugin on the base for the celtic knot.

I made this for a modeling competition.

Stab...
Are the other decorations bump maps? Very nice model and render. What did you render with?

Yes the other decorations are bump maps.
I rendered with POV ray from within Wings 3d.
I am still learning how to get the settings right with rendering.
I made the normal maps with GIMP.
It may look like a Celtic cross but its actually a Celtic Astrolabe used for navigation.
Here is another screen shot.

I like it a lot.

Nice job.

What is render-time like for a single frame like this ?

Really cool Smile

Render time is about 37 sec to export to pov-ray and 57 sec to render.

Good to see that Mesh Bump experiment has some utility. Smile
Nice work.

Stab can you try the latest wings snapshot and see if the normal/bump maps works in the wings window now on your model?

RE: Mesh Bump plugin - Stab In The Dark Software - 12-10-2012 01:52 PM

I don't see the normal map effects in the wings window.
I only see the when I render with pov-ray.
Should I see them in the wings viewport?

You must enable it with View/Show/Normal Maps (it takes some performance re-generates tangents),
and the normal maps must be applied to the material.

And you must use the hemilight/enmap shaders.
