RE: Wings3d Channel Tutorials - Fonte Boa - 12-03-2012

Micheus, the last snapshot and the development release i found in download session of wings3d.com are the same one?

Yes.

RE: Wings3d Channel Tutorials - Fonte Boa - 12-08-2012

At this point, preparing for recording some new ones,
i think it is important to explain Dissolve commands (v,e,f)
but it is hard to explain the following kind of rebuild sequence,
where those select faces were dissolved and user has to build a consistent situation.
Many times user selects the left pic faces and wants to get the right pic result, but that isnt immediate...

Some suggestions
or should i let this for later?

EDIT: wrong picture posted and now removed, sorry: thanks, Paul Smile

Is this strip showing a typical re-build sequence for this bit of geom ... because, if so, I'm wondering what happens between 4 and 5 Smile

Sorry, Paul: wrong picture...
This is the correct one:

Before anything:

Then, what i did, from the select one at next pic:
(a) mmb Scale Axis
(b) Clean Up
© delete the extra edge at neighbour.

Would it be a smarter/shorter way to do this, Paul?

This is hard to explain to newbies and i am not sure if the moment to do this is during these initial introducing videos: what do you think, Paul?

This is how do i proceed (first time i am using CamStudio):

This kind of thing is hard to explain to someone that is trying Wings for a first time...

Since we all have preferred ways of doing things, I'm unsure whether mine is 'smarter / shorter' would be correct ...

The bit I think could cause some problems is the duplicating / overlapping of geometry ... needing the use of cleanup.

Since the mesh looks ok - to the naked eye - it's not apparent whether it's been 'cleaned' or not.
In the noob world, this could cause problems.

I'd probably use a scale | rad >mmb > 0% op to re-locate the inner corner vert, after doing a couple of connect type sequences

Not better ... just different.

I think the main thing to try and get across is the fact that the 'ugly mess' can be re-organised in lots of ways - both re techniques and the final shape of the geom.

<<the main thing to try and get across is the fact that the 'ugly mess' can be re-organised in lots of ways>>

And it is really ugly, Paul: anyway i think new wings user has to be put in contact with Dissolve/Collapse just at beginning, no?!

RE: Wings3d Channel Tutorials - micheus - 12-09-2012

Fonte, in this kind of situation I use Absolute->Snap command (LMB):
With the edges selected, I invoce the command and I use:
- vertex 1 as reference point, then RMB (continue);
- vertex 2 as target point, then RMB (continue).

RE: Wings3d Channel Tutorials - puzzledpaul - 12-09-2012

Another route.

vert connect
cut 2 + vert connect
scale radial mmb > 0%

Imo,as the initial vert connect straight away produces a chunk of plane that will form part of the desired result, then it *might* help user visualise the final situation.

Edit
NB - just noticed / realised that I'd selected both verts for the rad scale op - when only the lower one (in this scenario) needs to be moved / modified.
