I don't see any problem with this name...
The "original" preferences files is named "Preferences.txt", so I don't see any problem about the preferences backup file be named "backup_prefs.txt" (backup of preferences - using the same .txt extension). The .pref extension was introduced by the recent added ability to save a subset of preferences.
