I'm sorry. I see what you ask for now.
BUT ... I'll try to give you a developer friendly answer ...
1) Don't put so many shapes into your scene that it will bog wings3d down.
2) Open a new scene ... do you import of all objects in your category.
3) Open the geometry windows and select the subset you want.
4) Save the subset.
5) Now merge that subset into your final scene.
I guess what I'm saying is ... I think the current program already does enough work for you that you should be satisfied.
