Hi Corey, welcome to our community.
 Just to clarify, we use to say "Connect command" when using the Connect [C] via context menu since we have a Connect Tool option under the main menu Tools. That is a strange behavior. Mainly for (1); I assume that for (2) you are not using the same cube used in (1). What is the Wings3d version you are using?
