http://www.evolved-software.com/treeit/treeit is an excellent piece of tree/branch creator that exports to .obj and .x. Similar to Tree[d] (Which seems abandoned long ago), but with a lot more options for customization.

That is a interesting tool to unwrap a mesh, mainly if you are going to use 3D paint tool. (my thought) To start to try it you must to notice it requires a triangulated mesh. Take a look at this presentation video:

Thanks for sharing Hank.
Just a side note... There are two executable files inside its install folder and one works with a GPU that supports OpenGL 3.3 (AwesomeBump330.exe) and the other with a GPU that supports at least OpenGL 4.1 (AwesomeBump.exe)
