SculptGL is a web sculpting application, powered by WebGL and JavaScript.
The source code can be found on github:
https://github.com/stephomi/sculptgl

It is a charm! Just wait some minutes to load the page, ok?

RE: SculptGL
Would you compare or contrast this to 3DCoat, Sculptris ? Images look OK. Looks like fun anyways.

RE: SculptGL
I wouldnt compare it with Zbrush, 3dCoat etc.
Imo the most impressive is the ability to produce using it via web inside Chrome without need to install it. It is possible to import/export OBJ files.

Anyway, you can install it to work offline:
http://stephaneginier.com/archive/nodewebkit/

And there is a Chrome extension that allow user to work without access internet, i believe:

Mark, maybe you can clarify a point to me. The code is at github: is it opensource?

RE: SculptGL
Fonte, I would compare it to Sculptris since its as basic sculpt tool as Sculptris is compared to ZBrush.

About the license you can find its description there - it's a MIT licence.

RE: SculptGL
FonteBoa ... after a quick look ... it appears as open source to me. GitHUB seems mostly used for open SRC ... AFAIK. But that may not always be the case.

RE: SculptGL
This is a very nice piece of sculpting software... Did you see somewhere any mail address of the author so that we may contact and ask him for some more features? If he could add a 'cut with various lasso types' tool -as the one existing in 3DCoat- it could be a very powerful sculpting app even for hard surface modelling...

Dimitri, it's easy to get the contact to any github coder, just access its profile. Smile

I'd say it does one better than Sculptris. IIRC, Sculptris cannot tessellate on the fly, and this tool can. You also get remeshing.

RE: SculptGL
Btw, let say that I did contact the author and he said me that he has a roadmap for it. He has plans for adding a lasso cut tool too to it. If he does such a thing, the app will be the only one having such a tool between the free apps of its kind. It will come very near to 3DCoat regarding its sculpting abilities.
