there's a teaser on what I've done unfolding (manually!) a deformed dodecahedron with wings, inkscape, an industrial laser cutter, a TIG welding machine, pressure washer and acetylene + oxygene. and a hammer, too.

I'm making a video showing the process.. just having some pretty annoying graphical bugs that make making a video a real pain (I might have to try it on another system I have yet to install and setup)



manual unfolding was made necessary because all "unfolders" I found would, somehow, at some time in the process, subdivide the pentagons into triangles, which made it inappropriate for welding. or they would suffer from other misc bugs and limitations that made it "not worth it" to use them.

I can't wait to see that video. It looks a lot of steps to get this egg done.

It's a pity that it's picture is a little blurred.
