what we need most now is a special import plugin that will correct any error in the manifoldnees of an object imported... I have frequently such an issue since i am very often torturing mesh to such a degree that i should go to the priest and confess to all my sin.i rarely do and it is a good thing for the priest.Please if you have time to look into it.
