RE: How to select objects with NEG volume ?
Object with negative volume is very simply ... likely inside-out or has some HOLES.
Wings3D is a very good tool for analysis. Often when I import objects form other packages ... they are not "watertight". I doubt I'm the only one experiencing this. I use Wings3D as a beautification tool, a vetting tool, etc in more complicated workflows. Right now ... I want to import a few items from Surface evolver. OORT ... Sea-Shells might ultimately import with near sero volume ... depends on whose shells they are. |

RE: How to select objects with NEG volume ?
I think I have used Invert to fix objects that are inside out in the past. I can't check right now...

RE: How to select objects with NEG volume ?
Yeah ... that's actually a no-brainer Oort. But if you have a set of 400 shapes and some are inverted and some are not ... how do you pick which ones to invert to get them all in a consistent state ?
My assertion is that it can be done with a Volume test. You can't invert them all by hand ... too many too pick and too much object vs objection occlusions for that anyway. Seems like a missing "BY" command for objects. |
