Hello everyone!

I started to do more test with new W3D 2.0.1 and I must admit with comparison to 1.5.3/4 the performance is quite poor. For simple object (less than ~500 vertices) it's not so irritating, but objects like 40K I got a lot of lags. For older software and the same hardware everything is OK.
I tried the newest graphic card drivers and various config and no difference.

My configuration:

Intel i5 - 4310U 2.60 GHz
8 GB RAM
Intel HD - driver 10.18.14.4280
Windows 8.1

Can anyone share with Intel HD experience and 2.x?

Additionally, when I tried to install W3D 2.0.2 in my desktop I got message: missing msvcr120.dll
In case anyone has the same issue go to: Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 for vcredist file. [SOLVED]

Its primarily your machine. I think others have mentioned it too.
But my testing with objects with 130 vertices ... they will work fine.

Perhaps the most important of specs ... would be your graphics card.

What do you have there ?

That has been reported under Windows 8. But, you can only check the option Microsoft DLL's in the Wings3D's installer. Then, you will be sure that you are installing the right version.
2.0.2 should be faster, if not please report.

To be honest I've just tried 2.0.2 and no impression. What's strange, I noticed if you turn off all other windows (outliner, geometry graph or palette etc) it helps a lillte bit... but still far away than in 1.5.4
Can we get the MAKE and MODEL of your PC also ? Just curious. And approx time frame when you purchased it (if purchased somewhat new).
Just to be sure: it's Dell Latitude E5540. Nothing special. Average business class. The other one is PC with AMD CPU + Nvidia GTX 650 and here I have no issue.
I have assumption it's only related with Intel HD. Let's wait for some feedback from other Intel HD users. If they don't complain, then I have to stay with 1.5.4 for a while.
Yeah! It's always an Intel driver issue. Long time ago someone post an image with the text: "Intel is not for 3D" - that is still valid, even more. Smile

I tested in my wife's notebook (Sony Vaio i5-2410M 2.30GHz 4GB Win7 64bit) with both integrated and dedicated video card and the result was the same as yours - very slow under Intel.

No lag problem using the dedicated one, but for Intel...

...and really, using Intel, Wings3D 1.5.4 ran much better with a object with 90K vertices.
So, as the basic graphic difference between 1.5.4 and 2.0.2 is the change from VAO to VBO I think that Intel still don't care about the performance of its integrated video cards.

You will find some similar complain from Blender users too:

nvidia 650Ti:
