No other program has given me any guff about saving in D:\, and that includes the built in applications like paint or notepad. C:\, yes, it will complain unless you run as admin, but wings 2.1 is the first thing that's given me trouble with this.

Wings 2.x(I have tried multiple versions up to and including 2.1) will not save or load anything from the root directory of my D drive, trying load gets a "Read failed: no such file or directory" message, and trying to save gets a silent failure. Trying to import an image gets a "Failed to load [filename]: unknown POSIX error".
Siber, what kind of drive is that D:?
I experienced exact the same load errors only if these files are stored in the root of a memory stick.

Just trying to delimit the problem. Smile
