Nope. Not the same. Because it will TRACE OUT and discover. Close ... but not the same. Maybe you don't want to pick them all. Just some.

For such cases there is the select by 'straightest path' (a command really very useful, I am using it very often).

Just asking for reasons of understanding... thinking that may be there is something that is escaping from my attention...

Straightest path will go straight ... which is different from following the crease. I promise you that. Similar ... but again ... not the same.
