And this is another idea... I did put a similar, somehow, request to Mark in the Manifoldlab section of the forum but this one is even better. It is about a command for turning a selected tube to a tentacle or brush stroke like object.

Such a command could be very useful in many cases. I know there there already some ways to achieve similar results in Wings but such a command -endowed with some parameter choices- could do things very easy.

Of course, if there are other ideas about ways of achieving such results let share them here...

Dimitri,
I think the Sweep command is the closest thing to that now. Maybe it can be modified to do what you need?? Maybe it is another command. It has been a while since I have done any modeling... Sad

Neat idea.

Hello Oort! Yes, I know that someone may work with 'sweep' and 'bend' for doing such things but it is not so easy, you have to go through processes that need too much effort for acquiring the exact result you need. In simple tube shapes they may do the work easily but if you have complex tube shapes (rope like objects) thing will become difficult.

I just thought about a simple command that will make things easy. You have a rope... you select it all, you click 'make tentacle', there opens a dialogue tab, you put the options, click ok and there, you have it...

I think that it can be done... but we need a programmer to do it... : - )
