Hi. I have fairly basic computer, W7, single core, 3GHz + Nvidia graphics card, 4G memory. It takes something like 12min to export some of my models to stl. If I could cut this down 50% by upgrading hardware I'd do it. Is that sort of performance improvement possible?

Cheers

It is never a great idea to upgrade hardware to overcome what could be a software technical issue if for any reason the STL exporter should by itself ... be the source of poor performance.

You would really settle for a 50% improvement ?

If you can or would trust me to TEST EXPORT your models to see what I think about performance ... I'd at least try to see what's going on. But you might need to keep models confidential. You could always do a deform crumple before you send to me. LOL. It's topology that prob matters here ... not precise geometry.

There must be some way someone can do a sanity check for you before you spend $$$.

Just testing here in my settings and sharing the numbers (i7-4770K 3.50ghz [4th generation] - 4 cores with HT enabled).

It took me around 2':10" - 2':50" (multiple tests). The processor usage by Erl.exe was ~15% with basically one core working and 25MB of memory payload.

Hmm, thanks Micheus. Looks like it's time for an upgradeSad Though if there's only one core really doing any work it can't be just down to the processor speed as it isn't /that/ much faster.
