Here is the bug report;

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/563418/Misc/wings_crash.dump

Please find the model here;

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/563418/Misc/hero_001.obj

Steps to recreate crash. I can do this as many times as I want.
  1. Import .obj
  2. Select Object
  3. Separate
  4. Select isolated triangle (right arm pit)
  5. Select right arm
  6. Weld
  7. Select body
  8. Select right arm
  9. Weld
Crash

Not sure when in the last year that build was made, but using the latest source code from github I don't get that crash, so it must already be fixed.

There hasn't been a new build available for a year now. It might be fixed in the source but not in any releases.

I can tell you that the model you linked to has some geometry problems, but I think you already know that.

It may help if you select the whole model, then Face > Hole RMB; that will close all the holes. After that, Separate and Weld and see if it goes better.

Oh yeah, I can definitely work around the issue. In fact, I had already worked around it. lol.

Upon further inspection of my Wings, apparently I am using version 1.4.15.g5bfb ... I honestly don't remember installing a snapshot version, but, there you have it. Tongue

Thanks optigon. Smile

Searching by that wings3d version I found this information below at http://www.serppages.com/site/www.wings3d.com:
Quote:http://wings3d.com/snapshots/
Title: Latest Wings Snapshot - Wings 3D
Latest Wings Snapshot. This snapshot was generated Fri Feb 04 16:40:13 EST 2011. Windows Download. wings-1.4.15.g5bfb.exe. Notes ...
As it is cashed information, it seems it was available in the official site - before all the current changes - the referenced page doesn't exists.

Anyway, it was a snapshot previous to Wings 1.4.1.

Ah...
That explains why it's fixed now Smile

Thanks Micheus!
