Hello.

I hope this is the right forum for my problem.

I use KiCAD and my wish is to make new 3d-models for electronic parts.

On my Laptop is a new installed Ubuntu 14.04 32-bit.

I had installed wings3d after this instruction http://www.sysads.co.uk/2014/07/install-...ntu-14-04/

Install Wings 3D
wget http://skylink.dl.sourceforge.net/projec....bzip2.run
chmod +x wings-1.5.3-linux.bzip2.run
sudo ./wings-1.5.3-linux.bzip2.run
sh ./wings-1.5.3/wings

Before, i had installed the Intel Graphics Installer 1.0.6 for Ubuntu* 14.04, 32-bit from this site: https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads

Opengl is working, glxinfo shows me, all is ok.

If I start wings3d over the terminal i get this message:

I don't know what is wrong. Is anyone here who can help me?

Thank you.

PS: I hope you can understand my creepy english. I'm sorry.

The build is for 64b ubuntu only.
Who uses a 32b OS anyway these days :-)

I don't have access to a 32b machine (or time) to build for every possible linux distribution.
As far as I know you will have to build it yourself.

steren, I build an 32bits version using an Ubuntu 13.1, but it didn't works on Debian 7 (for nemyax). If you would test on your environment and give me some feedback I would glad you. I sent you the link in a P.M.

Hello.

Sorry for my late answer. I was sick and not at home.

Micheus has send me a downloadlink for a 32-bit version. Thank you for that.

I try the Version but it doesn't work. The programm start, i can maximise the window, but when I place a cube or a sphere, the prorgamm is crashing.

I think, my computer is to old for wings3d. I think the problem is the shared memory. In BIOS the graphic-memory is fix on 8mb.

Now I use the Windows XP-Version on my old desktop-pc.

Thank you all for your help.

Best regards,

Micheus, can you post the 32 bit version? I have one of those small notebooks and would be great to model in spare time when I'm away home.

Thanks!

Thank you Micheus.
I tried Wings on their, and same operation Steren did,and some test.
  • Maximize the window
  • Place a Cube or a Sphere on the geometry
  • Shader display etc...
My computer's specification is here.

Lap-top PC:

In conclusion, Wings3D 32bit version almost worked fine, and don't crush on my both *buntu PCs.Biggrin
--------------------------------
But only my Lap-top-PC , another problem has occurred. x(
May I talk about it?
Recent Ubuntu isn't support old proprietary Graphic driver such as Nvidia-96,173.(These package can't find to Ubuntu's repository too.)

Then, when dragging mouse cursor on the geometry window of Wings3D (for band selection), Black flicker appears and more worsen in screen.
If the bug can be fixed(by Wings side) it will be a great help for old PC's users.

I take movie that time.(0:32-)
(Note: nVIDIA proprietary driver isn't installed)

I also tested Wings3D(Windows 32 bit ver) run or not with Wine.
Result was the same as the Linux version.
This is the log that Wings3d(for Windows) running on Wine in my Lap-top-PC.

Code:
@pc:~$ wine '/home/*****/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/wings3d_1.5.3/Wings3D.exe'

tkbd, thanks for the feedback.

My Ubuntu is running into Virtual Box. The OpenGL information is the same you have for your notebook and I'm also experiencing the dark flick (not in the full window as you - just in the top of it).

Unfortunately I'm not sure I can do something about that since I don't have a so old PC available for that. Anyway I'll try to make a real 32bit install in a old hard drive, but my video card is newest, so I don't now if this will help much.

Again, thank you for it test and give me the feedback. Smile
