Hi im a new wings user. i love this program. i used to work with maya PLE (long time ago...) Recently i got my interest back in 3d modeling and decided to try wings... absolutly no regrets. here are some images of the things i did. remember... im just learning again :-)

Wow: the character design is cool!
You could go on it, his shape is elegant
(you could just define better junction of torso and legs/arms).

I found the learningcurve of wings3d much faster then maya. i really like the non complicated interface of wings. this program makes 3d fun and educational.

You are very right in your observation Studiof... the ease of use that Wings has is one of its most characteristic virtues... : - )
