Oort and PeterChov: i've recorded two tutorials (sorry, one of them has 7 minutes....) thinking in you two. I would like to know if they have an effective result to appentice. The idea is a quick start: 1st one is about Bend|Plastic Bend, the 2nd one is about Clamped Bend|Plastic Bend.

Could you please try and tell me if you could repeat those steps???!!
Are them useful some way?

1st step
"rod center" is the point that will remain static during Bend

2st step
"rod top" is where you put your hands to curve the bar, to use your force to Bend it

3rd step
"bend normal" is the direction of curve

Like this, in my mind (1, 2, 3 steps)

Nice FB, could follow it no prob yea. I'm sure people will find 'em helpful.
I'm now even more convinced the current names are weird Tongue
Renaming Center and Top to From and To would make more sense as it is, though there might be cases where that wouldn't apply so we'd have to think that through..
That example pic isn't bad, don't forget #4, the other hand, currently "Bottom" Wink

Yes for Clamped Bend.
(and "top/botton" in this case,
the 2 addicional steps,
better define the restricted area that will be really deformed:
all the rest will be moved but without any deformation)

--------

"from" and "to" are very poor words to define all the math involved, no?
"center" and "top" are more adequated, no?

--------

a tip present in videos:
if you pick the references Bend asks you
by clicking on a edge,
try in this initial fase to keep using edges as element to define those points.
i used almost all the time Edges to indicate the 3 references to Wings bend that bar.
(there are MANY ways to pilot Bend)

This one is older: all was made by
.Bend Clamped. | Clamped Plastic Bend
showed in the 2nd video above.

All is a question of deal with Secondary Selections
and pick the elements that represent what user wants,
(specially the vector indicating the correct Bend direction)
that green dot and arrow

Practice: it is nice to try! Wink

I came, I saw, I hankered (for more.) Bliss! Biggrin

And found I knew only 1/10th as much as I'd thought. Unfortunately, I'm reaching the end of my ISP download quota. After this the browsing crawls.

Now trying to make a Pivot Bend quick start. Just let me know if the steps are clear.

1. Center
2. Top
3. Pivot Axis
4. Pivot Location

I hope you did not stop using voice over due to my comment about the buzz in the audio... Sad

Nice you liked the colors: me too!

Thanks, Peter!

Yep - I started a strip yesterday for one of the clamped options - with the straight portions being a different colour from the bent ones - viewer has an immediate visual idea of where stuff is -even before starting the op.

+ used hard edges (diff col) to show the rod centre elements and also for the axial edges on which the assorted points are located.

...but no need for my stuff now we've got 'the movies' Smile
