Hello I'm kind of new to modelling and I thought wings 3d would be a good software to start with. But I couldn't find the right solution to this problem.

I am trying to have: for example a cube which I want to cut a hole out of. I am trying to do this by placing another object inside it and than I am trying to delete it with the part of the other object.

example in the attachments

Help is appreciated!

There is some situations that we can achieve a way to do that using Wings3d, but this kind of operation - aka boolean operation - can be done by installing ggaliens' booleans plugin.

He has a proper session in this forum: ManifoldLab Plug-ins Collection where you can ask about his stuff.

You install it by using the Files->Install Plugin and as menus are context sensible, the boolean operation is done under Body selection mode.

Florens,
You can also create a hole without adding the booleans plugin.

See how to create a circular shape on a square face in the "Forming a circular face onto a square, using inflate" section here... circular face

Then you can select newly created circular faces on both sides of the cube and use the "Bridge" command to cut the hole.

(To see how bridge works... Create a cylinder > In face mode select both ends > Inset both ends > Bridge.)

Maybe more work but it works... Smile

There is lots of useful info in the ppzpitstop by Puzzledpaul. Puzzledpaul Tutorials
